 Dermal
Fillers
The most popular products in this group are made by Q-MED, a Swedish
biotechnology company. They have four products for facial aesthetics:
RESTYLANE®, PERLANE®, RESTYLANE TOUCH® and RESTYLANE
SUB Q®. Together they meet different treatment needs. The crystal
clear gel is injected into the skin and achieves its effect by providing
volume. The method is fast and safe and leaves no scars or other
traces on the face.
For superficial lines, for example around the eyes and mouth (smoker’s
lines). RESTYLANE TOUCH® is used. For somewhat deeper wrinkles
and lip augmentation RESTYLANE® is used, while PERLANE®
is used for more pronounced facial folds, facial contouring and
lip augmentation. The latest product in the range, RESTYLANE SUB
Q® is used to give cheeks and chin more definition and volume
as they lose substance with age. Each product is injected at different
levels in the skin in order to achieve the right effect.
All the products consist of a non-animal, stabilised hyaluronic
acid with different gel particle sizes in each. No pre-testing is
required so it can be administered without fear of transmitting
diseases from animals.
The injections are given with a very fine needle and normally
no anaesthesia is required except for treatment with RESTYLANE SUB
Q®, where a local anaesthetic is administered to the cheek area.
Lips are very sensitive and a dental anaesthetic is always offered
although some clients may prefer anaesthetic cream applied to the
lip.
Finally RESTYLANE VITAL® is used to treat larger areas of
skin on the face/neck/front of upper chest and back of hands. Tiny
drops of the gel are injected evenly throughout the area to be treated.
Hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin and improves the condition of
the dermis. It improves skin tone by stimulating the production
of collagen and elastin so gives an overall REJUVENATING EFFECT.
Prices for products in the RESTYLANE® range start at £180.
Lip treatments last about 6 months and other treatments 6-12 moths,
after which the area can be retreated at the clients’ request.
